man cold

We're sick over here.  Every single one of us.
but apparently there are degrees of severity between us.
you guessed it, Brent's cold is the worst.

Let me tell you about last night.
Brent knows I hate when he takes NyQuil.  It makes me anxious when he is passed out unresponsive and lets face it, I'm jealous of his comatose state.
So last night wasn't fun, we all felt worse as the the night approached.

Brent:  "yeah, I really don't feel good.  How are you feeling?"

me:  "not too bad."

MY MISTAKE

He must have took that as a green light to take him some NyQuil...I didn't know though, so when he was unresponsive to all the moans, coughs, and sniffles I thought "come on, I've got up several times, its your turn."  but on one of my trips out of bed (yeah, it was a long night) I noticed an open cabinet and a medicine cup with the last remnants of already ingested NyQuil.  oooooh, hooo, hoo.  How dare he!  We were all sick...

Once morning came I didn't mind as much but during my sleepless night I was mad and rather irrational.  Don't worry about Brent though, he is redeeming himself right now by making me eggs.  hunched over, stuffy and all.  What a guy!

so enjoy this little clip from a MAN with a "man cold"

one of the many {interesting} conversations I have with Jack.

Me:  Sam, knock it off!

Jack:  what he do?

Me:  he licked me.

Jack:  he licked you where?  {sounding rather concerned}

Me:  my toe

Jack:  eeeeeww, gross.  I not lick your toe.

Me thinking:  hmmm, who's toe do you lick?

Jack:  I lick your face!

I didn't see that one coming.  darn I wish I did a better job at documenting all the awesome sayings, words, and phrases my little curly headed boys says.  because there really are some good ones.

actually, this one just popped into my head.  Jack told Brent the other day in a rather stern voice, "dad, say sorry to your honey!"  {but of course I like this one.}

aaand since we're here people; one more conversation.  {I know I said one.}

heading out the door to the doctors.
Jack: will I get a shot?  I like shots.

Me: maybe Jack, I just don't know.

Jack:  I don't like shots.  Shots are kindaaa, are kinda pokey!

This boy

...is officially 6 months.
I say this because I found myself saying so a couple weeks too soon.  Why do I do that, do I really want him to age faster?  no. no I do not.

Trying to be more frugal, I decided to take my own "professional" pictures.  That's right, I just openly admitted that these pictures are my feeble attempt at taking descent frame worthy pictures.
However, I didn't give it my whole heart.  I waited too long and didn't get the perfect light, and yes I decided to take pictures of him after eating. anyone notice any peas? hope not.  I also should have put his cute shoes on because lets face it if we were really doing a shoot, he would have been wearing them.  alas, they were all the way upstairs.  Oh, and perhaps I should have swept a bit...wait, wait.  I just thought of one more reason confirming my lack of heart--I edited in picnik not photoshop.  'nuff said!

apparently any joe schmo can make this kid cute.  I like him. alot.  Here's a few things I need to document:
(I gotta do it, sorry.)

He is Mr. grabby
looooves his johnny jump up
easy peasy
trying to roll over the other way
trying to sit up (looks like a crunch gone bad)
immediately grabs feet once socks are pulled off
has a fuzz head
zero teeth
and if he smiles big enough, you get the pleasure of seeing a dimple in his left cheek

and speaking of aging, here is what Miles will look like when he gets older. maybe.

yes. very pinterested.

I really want to get an invite and start "pinning" a.k.a organizing my bookmarks.  I think this idea is genius and seriously solves all of my bookmark woes...
two words.  visual bookmarks.

I suppose I could just browse others pin-boards and feel sorry for
myself.  That sounds fun too.
I am on their waiting list.  what? a waiting list?
actually, I think the problem is that they didn't forsee the instant popularity and aren't prepared for the high volume of users.  or maybe I'm just not cool enough.

Here check it out, if you haven't already.  I think its going to be big, like Facebook big.
Well, maybe not THAT big.

Update: Yesterday I received an invitation.  I'm not sure if I waited it out or if some kind soul sent me an invite.  If so, thank you kind soul!

stencil shmencil

soooo, ever since my friend (Amy) showed me some sweet Harry Potter tees on Etsy, I've been itching to make my very own.  I made these shirts the same way I did Jack's "2" shirt.  The best part is that I am still using the same roll of freezer paper.  That stuff will last you forever!

Originally I was going to use the freezer stencil method and paint a gold lightning bolt but then I figured a little dimension would be cute too.  So I used some felt.  Now if only hadn't used the zig zag stitch...

I thought it fitting this should be seen as he's walking away.

well this just makes me giddy.  This here is for Brooklyn.  I made a black one for Van.  Now it's Miles' turn.

I am re-reading Harry Potter 7 in preparation for the second part of the last movie, so here are some more ideas that I have in store:

I ♥ Ron or Sirius
(these two are my 'Harry Potter' crushes)

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good
(this one might have to wait till I get this baby)

Expecto Patronum! with an outline of a stag underneath

I must not tell lies

Dumbledore's Army

as a side note, when I first put the shirt on Jack he said "oh, like Lightning McQueen."  Whatever Jack,  soon you will understand it's true awesomeness.

I realize that I have little white triangles in the corner of each stair step.  This occurred when we got new carpet.  so back off, we just got new carpet like last summer.  okay, it's officially on our "to-do" list. Can you tell I'm just a tad insecure about my triangles?

    well said.

I needed this today.  such a good reminder.
