Jack's first true word is, can you guess it? yup-- ball! I think it is adorable when he says it because he gets so excited every time he exclaims ball! a ball! He now loves the produce section of the grocery store because there are sooo many "balls" such as apples, onions, oranges, etc. Also, most things round are considered balls at our house. I love watching Jack change and learn new things. Here are some pics of him with one of his favorite balls, daddy's of course!

Jack's very first
Wowsers this year has flown by. I can't believe my baby boy is one! It has been a lot of fun and pretty hard at times. He still loves him some peas, still prefers men over women, still HATES to lay still, still has chubby hands, still is a people watcher and still loves his mommy and daddy even though they left him for an entire week while they went to Hawaii! We had a simple get together with family for Jack's birthday. He had...

(he can take about five steps now.)

I blame our motherboard...
Our motherboard went bad a few weeks ago and I have been computerless, internetless, and blogless...I hate being without a computer. Not that I spend THAT much time on a computer but I like my daily cyber space time.
We are really enjoying our Christmas over here. We try to drink hot chocolate as much as possible, we've seen some pretty lights, (hey we even hung some up this year) we got our real christmas tree, Christmas music is constantly on in the background, and so far we've seen Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and White Christmas. Oh yeah, and parts of Mixed Nuts. (mainly the dancing scene)
Besides losing an entire week to trying to win some holiday cash on the radio, I've been playing with Jack, keeping my house clean, making jewelry here and there and yes, cooking! so, there you have it a random post about nothing, (as the Carter boys put blogging:) with a funny picture of Jake and Jack visiting Santa!

With Delilaaaah!
Yes it is November 5th, and yes KOSY 106.5 is already playing Christmas music!!! I think they started November 1st. Not sure though. Okay, let's just get this straight; I LOVE Christmas music, Brent too. We are big fans....but for crying out loud, what about Thanksgiving! Starting Christmas too early ruins it in my opinion.
I remember being stunned last year at how early KOSY (and maybe others) were playing the warm and fuzzy music. So Monday night when Brent and I were driving around, we decided to check 106.5, and sure enough "Jingle Bell Rock" was playing. After finishing the song, (of course) we began to bash the radio station, and call others letting them know of the aberration!
I have to admit that a part of me wants to get sucked in, but I just tell myself--hold out until the day after Thanksgiving and then you can cave. It's kind of like Soap Operas--you know they are ridiculous and you shouldn't watch them, but if you let yourself watch one you're hooked. So every day Brent asks me "did you listen to any Christmas music today?" I tell him "no" and he keeps drilling me " are you sure?" Don't worry though I have to check on him every now again too. He is just as susceptible to the lure of Christmas music as me...
On another note, I can only stomach Delilah during the holidays. In fact I kind of enjoy her cheesy, cheerful, peppy, optimistic banter; but only during the end of November and and the month of December.

Flashback Friday...Halloween Style
This Halloween was back in 2004 when Brent and I were engaged. We were down in New Mexico and got to go to a party with some family and friends. We loved our costumes, Brent especially. Every year he wants to be Popeye again. I don't know if it was the pipe he was allowed to have for the night or the fake muscles, but something about it was magical for him. No, he really did look good. I loved our costumes too--I am just not as nostalgic as he and I like to tease him about it.
We had a sweet little trio. Brent as Popeye, Sean as Bluto, and myself as Olive Oyl.

I crack up seeing these pictures of Sean (Brent's bro) because he seriously had this look plastered on his face all night. They were totally in the zone.
I have to mention my sister--Rosie the Riveter. She looked perfect!
And the candy man himself--Willy Wonka er, Doug
I hope more of you post Halloween pics...they are just so fun to look at.

The Lucky 7 tag...
7 things that I can do: 1. I currently can only run three miles. I signed up for a half marathon in January and can't even scare myself into training! 2. I can surf the web with the best of em! 3. Recite Jack's favorite book "Zoo's who?" entirely from memory. "the elephant's trunk is her nose..." 4. Swear like a sailor. (I probably shouldn't admit that, sorry mom.) 5. I can watch seven seasons of Gilmore Girls in about three weeks. I swore off everything else. 6. I can sign, ASL. Not as well as I used to though. Boo. 7. well I can't tell you what Brent said I can do:) what? I needed some help coming up with things I can do. 7 things that I cannot do: 1. keep my kitchen clean (that's in response to Alicia not being able to NOT keep her kitchen clean--show off!) 2. close my eyes in the shower. The bad guys might get me! 3. kiss Jack enough. I just want to squeeze him! 4. do a backbend. That used to be my signature move and now, well maybe one day again. 5. Parallel park. I should be able to--my father is a master parker/backer upper. 6. iron, well maybe I CAN but I hate it, and I am not really good at it. Brent does all his own ironing. Don't feel too bad for him though, he usually rolls a wrinkly shirt AND I do all the laundry. 7. reach half the items in my kitchen. 7 things that attracted me to Brent: 1. Super supportive-- he always encouraged me to finish school, and I know that he has my back in ANYTHING I want to do. really. 2. His body. He is lean, muscly and no chicken legs. Just the way I like em. 3. Patient, patient, patient. 4. He would do anything for me. I know this one is a little cliche, but if I really wanted something he would do it. I never hear the word "no" and am spoiled because of it. 5. He is really outgoing, and not afraid to say what he's thinking. 6. He gave me the butterflies... 7. duh, his hair. 7 things I most often say: 1. too, too--like "not too, too bad." 2. Sam, Come! 3. I love you 4. I don't feel good. I must be a hypochondriac 5. I'm hungry motha, really I am. in a British accent 6. Really? 7. Dude,... 7 Celebrity admirations: 1. Ellen Degeneres. She is hilarious and just puts me in a good mood. 2. Shirley MacLain. ahhh, Ouiser from Steel Magnolias was the best and of course her performance in Terms of Endearment was awesome--she won best actress for that one. 3. The Beatles. yeah, yeah I know they are everyone's favorite, but seriously how amazing are they? They have remained one of the most beloved and influential bands today. 4. Edward Norton. I have this unexplained attraction to him 5. Ellen Page. I first saw her in the Sundance Film- Hard Candy. Crazy movie, great acting. Then we saw her in x-men and Juno. I loved loved loved Juno. "your baby wants to be borned!" 6. Steve Carell. another one that just makes me happy. I have loved his last three movies, and of course he is still making us laugh/feel awekward in The Office. 7. J.K. Rowling. wowsers! I think anyone who can write a book is brilliant but her imagination and her characters are just facinating. 7 Favorite foods: 1. Cereal, I eat it almost every night 2. Chips and salsa. It's sooo addicting 3. rice pudding 4. green chili--good in everything! 5. Oatmeal 6. veggie cream cheese 7. New Mexican food, I am a little biased but I swear it is the best stuff you will ever taste. 7 People I tag: 1. Becca Hensley 2. Teresa Ockey 3. Meshan Foutz 4. Veronica Morton 5. Melanie Chambers 6. Katie McPherson 7. Heather Keele
