Beach Ho 2011

I had to keep up the tradition of last year's beach post.
This year we went to Oceanside in September and loved it!  Though I have to admit I had minor season confusion.  I was ready to switch into Fall mode but we still had the beach house to look forward to.  Obviously I got over it.  (I'm sure you all feel bad for me)  We enjoyed our last bit of Summer and I am no longer cheating on my favorite season.  Jen and Alicia also blogged about this vacation and I may or may not have stolen some photos from them:)

He wrote this all by himself.  proud? nah!

This kid had lots to do--eat sand, find rocks, crawl to the waves, etc.

poppy and Jack made sand go go cars.  along with Disneyland.  ummm where are those pictures?

Viva BirdsEye!

I've been thinking lately, and my little hiatus from jewelry making has only affirmed my desire to design and create jewelry.  I miss it.  The longer my sad Etsy shop remains empty the more anxious I get.  Mainly because I worked hard at finding the ins and outs of Etsy, searching for the cheapest yet highest quality of metal, and don't even get me started on my research of oxidization....I have some new and fresh ideas, I've got to regroup and get back in there!

It really makes me happy when someone likes my stuff enough to buy it.  Its not about the money, (thankfully)  it really is about creating something that someone else likes just as much as me.  Brent always teases me because I tend to have the reaction of "oh, you like it? really?  have it. its yours."

Making jewelry is more than that for me though, its kind of a reminder of who I was and who I am now.  wow, sorry to get all Emo on you but seriously back when I was just teenager Markelle, I wanted to create my own jewelry line and be a successful designer.
So now when I find myself with so many other roles to maintain I enjoy playing out my adolescent dream.

why am I rambling about my fallen life's ambition?
because sometimes it helps to talk, I mean write about it.
and I also wanted to get any input I could on my business name...BirdsEye Jewelry

Is it a solid name?  I loved it at first because of the "eye" part.  It was about jewelry catching your eye. lame? and then paired with a peacock feather for the eye of the feather.  However now I feel like birds have become trendy and sometimes I think of the frozen vegetable brand in your local grocers freezer.

anyhoo, I don't hate the name I'm merely wondering what you all think. (all five of you)
If I did change it, I was thinking about something more classic like my name or some version of it.

man cold

We're sick over here.  Every single one of us.
but apparently there are degrees of severity between us.
you guessed it, Brent's cold is the worst.

Let me tell you about last night.
Brent knows I hate when he takes NyQuil.  It makes me anxious when he is passed out unresponsive and lets face it, I'm jealous of his comatose state.
So last night wasn't fun, we all felt worse as the the night approached.

Brent:  "yeah, I really don't feel good.  How are you feeling?"

me:  "not too bad."

MY MISTAKE

He must have took that as a green light to take him some NyQuil...I didn't know though, so when he was unresponsive to all the moans, coughs, and sniffles I thought "come on, I've got up several times, its your turn."  but on one of my trips out of bed (yeah, it was a long night) I noticed an open cabinet and a medicine cup with the last remnants of already ingested NyQuil.  oooooh, hooo, hoo.  How dare he!  We were all sick...

Once morning came I didn't mind as much but during my sleepless night I was mad and rather irrational.  Don't worry about Brent though, he is redeeming himself right now by making me eggs.  hunched over, stuffy and all.  What a guy!

so enjoy this little clip from a MAN with a "man cold"
